Besides my faith, my wife, my little girl, my family, and my friends (the important stuff), baseball is my biggest passion. It is the greatest game on earth and I can’t get enough of it. Ever since I attended a game at the old Astrodome where the great Mike Scott threw a one-hitter, I was hooked (do you think a six-year-old cared if he was scuffing the ball? I think not). And ever since the incomparable Jeff Bagwell sold his soul to the devil in 1994 to have his monster season, I have been in love.
With grass that looks so green every spring, with 40,000 people cheering for a man versus a man, with hot dogs that miraculously are good for you once you eat them at the ballpark, and with every other nuance and quirk and fact you can think of. This site is dedicated to that game - and the numbers that explain it.
I would love to hear what any of you want to discuss, debate, or disclose. Email me anytime you want to suggest something for the site (ryankirksey@yahoo.com), or leave a comment if you agree or disagree with something that you read. Need me to do some research? I love doing it, so let me know if I can help. I’m not an expert by any means, just a fan who thinks the numbers do a good job of explaining the describing the game.
Hi Ryan,
I just ran into your website on accident, and I must say that it is good stuff. I haven’t been able to read through all of it yet (I literally just found this yesterday), but from what I have read so far, your entries seem to be one of the best on the ‘net, much better than the majority of columns over at espn.com.
I just started up a baseball blog of my own, and would appreciate it if you periodically took a gander.
Thanks, and keep up the good work,
Marco
Welcome to the world of bloggers, my friend. It’s addicting…
