I couldn’t agree with you more about the deeper leagues being more fun, I actually play in some of them (12 or 14 teams, 18 is pretty intense), but have always been voted down when bringing up expanding this league. But I have been in this one for six years now and it is with my best friends and will always be my favorite, even if it is not for money.

And for as much bashing as I did (do) of Luke Scott, I ended up taking him as a fourth or fifth OF in my most competitive league. But as much as I love Jones and Markakis, I just don’t see Scott as a fit with them as a 30-year old OF without ever having a full-time job whose arbitration clock is just about to start ticking. I just want to see how he performs in the fabulous AL East as opposed to the crappy NL Central.

But he is definitely a 20-HR, marginal defense, serviceable outfielder.

Oh, and I’m a huge Baltimore Orioles fan living in Florida.

I’m a fantasy baseball fanatic. In 4-leagues this year (though I think 3 is plenty). I am in an 18-team cbssportsline league (this draft was insane), 2 different 12-team yahoo leagues, and an mlb.com league (just for fun). All of these are head-to-head.

I would have to say that with the depth of the majors this year, a 10-team league is no fun. No offense, but there is just too much depth for any manager to have a bad team - and there will ALWAYS be guys on the waiver wire to pick up. After doing this 18-team league; doing the draft, and watching how things are developing with this week’s scoring so far, I’m a firm believer in high-manager leagues now. I don’t think I’ll ever do anything below 12-team ever anymore.

Anyway, I had 2 good drafts and 2 pretty crappy ones (one of these I missed) - though we’ll see how it all works out in the long run.

I’d have to say that my best pick took place in the 18-team league. I got Furcal (SS-LAD) in the 10th round, 179th pick. Are you kidding me? Have no idea how he lasted that long. And my personal favorite, grabbing Zack Greinke in round 14 with the 251st pick. Great sleeper this year.

Of course I loved some other picks in other drafts like Ethier and Loney in various late round picks… but the previously mentioned are my favorites.

Anyway, I also read your take on the Tejada trade and for the most part I agree. I think people underestimate how far Tejada has fallen. His range is nil (not that that matters in fantasy) and his bat is just about done. I’d be shocked if he gets 20 dingers this season.
I do disagree with your view on Luke Scott comparison to Jay Gibbons. Gibbons has turned into a joke, so much so we payed him $12M to leave the city. Luke Scott recorded a 1.047 and .855 in 2006, 2007 respectively. And if you know the Orioles, having a LF with a .850+ OPS on the field is something we drool at. And he closes out a very exciting OF with him, Jones and Markakis.

OK, I’ll stop typing now. And don’t worry Justin, Roberts will produce to whatever round you picked him. He will tear it up this year in 1B, 2B and SB. Too bad you all don’t count AVG or OPS when it comes to him.
